Snowmobile Safety Training: 2025/2026 Season

For Minnesota Residents Born After December 31, 1976

Are you a Minnesota resident born after December 31, 1976? If yes, did you know that you need to complete Minnesota DNR Safety training in order to legally ride a snowmobile in Minnesota?

The Lakeville Sno-Trackers are dedicated to ensuring youth can get involved in snowmobiling safely! Each year, we provide Minnesota DNR-certified Snowmobile Safety Training. This season, we’re excited to offer both Traditional Classroom and Hybrid options to best fit your schedule.

Training Options for 2025/2026

Eligibility: 
Youth must be at least 11 years old by December 1, 2025 to participate.

1. Traditional Classroom

  • Dates: December 1, 3, 8, 10 (2025)

  • Time: 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM

  • Location:
    Ed Mako Environmental Learning Center - Ritter Park
    19300 Ritter Park
    Lakeville, MN 55044

  • Field Day: December 13, 2025

  • Fee: $15 for instructor materials and DNR certification.

2. Hybrid Class

  • How it works: Complete the online course at www.snowmobilecourse.com for $34.95, then attend an in-person review and quiz session on December 4, 2025 (7:00 PM – 9:00 PM).

  • Location for review session:

  • Field Day: December 13, 2025

  • Additional Fee: $15 for instructor materials and DNR certification.

What’s Included:

Once your student completes either the Traditional Classroom sessions (4 nights) or the Hybrid online course + review session, they will automatically be registered for the Field Day on December 13, 2025.

  • Field Day: A hands-on, instructor-led driver performance test.

  • DNR Certified Instructors will lead the training with support from Lakeville Sno-Trackers Snowmobile Club members.

How to Register:

Pre-registration is required for both the Traditional and Hybrid courses. Spots are limited, so please register early to ensure your student’s participation.

  • Traditional Classroom: December 1, 3, 8, 10 (2025)

  • Hybrid Review Session: December 4, 2025

  • Field Day (both classes): December 13, 2025
